Why This Blog? by Emily

Welcome to an idea borne on the Palouse in eastern Washington.  As we pedaled on our first fully loaded bicycle tour of 5 days, we jotted notes in our bicycle tour notebooks. And Jay thought, "We could share our perspectives in a blog, without sharing with each other before we posted. So our ideas would not be influenced by what the other wrote."  I thought that was an awesome idea. I love blogs.

Jay then said, "We could call it "He Said, She Said.""

I paused.   This evoked stereotypical images of how couples disagree and don't listen to each other.  But I also thought it had a ring to it. So I suggested "Two Sides of the Same Bicycle."

Since I designed the blog, I settled on the current title, "He Said, She Said: Two Wheels on the Same Bicycle," though it may be revised again.    It ties back to a poem I wrote for Valentine's day, which I have copied below:

Our Love, Like a Bike...
Where our bikes go, so too our hearts.
Where our bikes are, so is our home.
Where our bikes live, so will we.
Like the fluidity of riding a bike, is our dance together.
Like the grace of flying downhill, is our love.
Like the smooth shifting of gears, is our working together.
As two wheels turn in the same direction, that is our merging life.
As the handlebars choose the path, that is our will and intention.
As pedals provide propulsion, that is our enthusiastic, tantalizing affection.
